The ambiance and the food were good. We split fish tacos chicken tacos and tempura shrimp tacos thought there was three there were only two but they were very good. Eight on the water and made for a great date night!

a family friend really likes this place so when we met up we decided to go here. overall, great food, good service and a nice ambiance. we started off with the chips and salsa as well as the corn. the chips tasted fresh and were replenished. there were three salsas - tomatillo salsa was amazing, the mango one decent and the smokey one average. the corn also tasted good but a bit too mayo for me. we then got the guacamole, shrimp tacos and other tacos. the guacamole was good, a bit small but good quality, and the tacos were a good portion and good flavor.

We enjoyed our dinner at Macanda. The blue corn chips that come with the guacamole and the queso are so light and crisp, almost flaky. Best chips I've had in a long time. I liked the mushroom tacos with a generous squirt of lime. They weren't particularly remarkable, but generally all the food was tasty. The sides are a nice addition to the tacos. We got the rice, beans and esquite (elote corn off the cob). Sometimes I appreciate just a generally good meal. It doesn't always have to surprise you or be an explosion of flavors. And they don't over-salt the food like so many trendy restaurants these days. Very pleasant!

Ducked into Macanda with my wife after window shopping up and down the street. Didn't know it existed prior to that. Loved the decor and vibe, so we agreed it's Mexican food tonight. It was just before 6 pm on a Thursday, and we could sense the restaurant crowd was starting to buzz, but they were able to seat us immediately. Great first impression. The second great impression was delivered by our Server Emmanuel. After learning it was our first time dining, took us through the whole menu from drinks to entree's. It was a very generous and entertaining engagement, and informed us that this was not going to be your standard Mexican fair. Saffron Margarita on rocks had orange citrusy tone and the black lava salt coating on the side of the glass made it exotic. My wife's regular margarita was much better than you'd expect from a 'standard' description. Calamari was the best I've had in years. Crispy and hot, and intermixed with what I describe as thin blades of chive grass along with small rings of red peppers . The pickled veggies had a spicy zing to complement the appetizer, and the habanero mayo was just the perfect dipping sauce. The Carne Asada tacos served on a wooden plate was beautifully understated with two flour tortillas, covered with what seemed like a bean based mole and strip steak. The side bowl of zesty salsa really took this entree up a level to a very satisfying experience. Gotta give a shout out to Indeed Brewery for their Mexican Honey Imperial Lager. This paired well with the accumulating heat of the meal. My wife's Shrimp Quesadilla was a big portion crispy brown deliciousness. Only criticism would be the soggy lettuce inside that would have been better served on the side with aioli or seasoned sour cream. Orange Spanish rice was distinctly different than any I've ever had and absolutely wonderful. Wish I could describe it better than that. Emmanuel charmed us into dessert of coconut milk soaked sponge cake with raspberry sauce between the layer. It was a fitting finish to a very flavorful meal. Overall, a great experience delivered by a restaurant we had zero expectations from going in. I highly recommend Macanda to anyone looking to take their south of the border dining to the top shelf. We'll be back!!

All around great experience. The food was delicious, our waitress was kind and offered a ton of recommendations, and the restaurant was beautiful! It sits right by lake Minnetonka and the patio overlooks the bay. The restaurant was very busy on a Friday so I was nervous about how long the wait would be without a reservation but somehow we got in right away, so it was perfect! I definitely will come back!

Everything was very good. I am pretty particular with my crafted cocktails. When I didn't like the one they made for me, they did fix it to my liking. The server was very kind, I believe he was from Denmark. We loved him! I'm giving 4 stars because the shrimp quesadilla had LETTUCE in it..!!! Who puts lettuce in a quesadilla? lol i think everyone who's has a quesadilla knows that they are filled with cheese- so a water soluble vegetable such as lettuce would become extremely soggy and gross.. and it was. Everything else tasted amazing.. with the beautiful ambiance and patio next to the lake I was expecting a little bit better quality food and drinks, BUT the server and ambience made my birthday a good enough experience that I'd come back here again. Hope this helps!

Loved visiting Macanda! Parking was relatively easy to find on a Thursday evening in the large parking lot. Signage helped guide us to the restaurant since it is in a building with other businesses. This place is gorgeous! I love the cactus decorations and the light and airy feel. We didn't have a reservation and were seated right away on their porch. Our server greeted us right away and did a VERY detailed overview of the menu, recommending like half of the items. It was a little overwhelming honestly. We started with a saffron margarita and mezcal margarita. Both equally delicious and well-balanced. We ordered the chips and salsa, mussels, shrimp tempura tacos, and carne asada tacos. Everything but the mussels had a great flavors! Their sauce was good, but the mussels themselves were a little gritty and didn't seem super fresh. The tacos were SO delicious! They were decently sized with a lot of filling, which was appreciated considering the $15/16 price tag. The tortillas also stayed intact!!

Macanda has immaculate vibes inside and on the patio overlooking the lake! The decor transports you from MN, to a tropical escape! The carne asada tacos were perfectly cooked and I may even get these every time I visit in the future because they were that good! Disclaimer that the salsa served with the tacos is SPICY but it's a great addition to the flavors in play. Also recommend the guacamole mixto with grilled avocados, cilantro, and pistachio macha. My favorite salsa was the tomatillo serrano, this was a mild salsa and was easy to snack on! If you're looking for a drink on the sweeter side the Ileana is there for you! My favorite drinks on the menu were the spa water 2.0 which was light and refreshing with cucumber and mint and the Paloma (always a go-to) as we love grapefruit margaritas!
